Sports & Movies of 1965
* ABC paid an unprecedented $32 million for a four-year contract with the NCAA to  
   broadcast football games on Saturday afternoons.
* World Series - LA Dodgers beat the Minnesota Twins, 4 games to 3.
* NFL Playoffs: Green Bay Packers beat the Cleveland Browns, 23-12.
* Basketball Playoffs: The Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 4 games to 1.
• Palestine Wildcats defeat the San Marcos Rattlers to become Texas High School AAA
   State Champs


* The Oscar for Best Picture in 1965 went to 'The Sound Of Music.'
* Other top movies: 'Dr. Zhivago,' 'The Greatest Story Ever Told,' 'Cat Ballou,'
   'Thunderball' and 'Help!'
* Dick Clark premiered an afternoon dance show, 'Where the Action Is,' which was
   broadcast from the beach and featured Paul Revere and the Raiders. And
   'Hullabaloo,' NBC's answer to 'Shindig!,' premiered on NBC.
* Comedy and fantasy television programs filled the airwaves, with people tuning in to
   watch 'I Dream of Jeannie,' 'F Troop' and 'Lost in Space.'
* Other popular shows were 'Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.,' 'The Beverly Hillbillies,'
  'Hogan's Heroes,' 'Get Smart,' 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.' and 'Daktari.'
• Janice Frazier recognized for outstanding performance as 'Bloody Mary' in PHS High
  School performance of Oscar & Hammersteins 'South Pacific'. Dick, uh Richard,
